After 5pm, there is no parking on Guildhall Walk itself, or in Exchange Road to the rear of the theatre.
There is a pay-and-display car park situated opposite the theatre on Alec Rose Lane, behind Starbucks. Parking tickets can be bought via the car park’s ticket machines at the time of parking, using credit or debit card, cash, or you can use your telephone to make a booking via RingGo..
We recommend parking in the Isambard Brunel Multi-Storey car park (postcode for sat-navs PO1 2BX) which is 500 metres (5 minutes walk) from the theatre.
The car park is open 24/7 and monitored by CCTV. Parking tickets can be bought via the car park’s ticket machines, using credit or debit card, cash before you depart.
We also offer a limited number of discounted parking tickets for Theatre Patrons using the Isambard Brunel Multi-storey Car Park, which can be purchased online along with your tickets, which is then exchanged for an exit pass for the Car park. Please ask Box Office for more details.
How to use a discounted parking ticket at the Isambard Brunel Multi-storey Car Park
On arrival at the Car Park, take a ticket to enter and find a parking place. Take your car park entry ticket with you to the theatre, and when you collect your theatre tickets, you can also collect your exit ticket.
Please note that Blue Badge holders are exempt from pay and display charges in Portsmouth City Council owned car parks, you only have to display your badge. However this is not the case in NCP owned car parks. This does not include the Isambard Brunel Multi-Storey car park as you have to get a ticket in order to gain access. Portsmouth City Council suggests Stanhope Road car park or Guildhall Walk car park for Blue Badge holders. There is space to drop off outside New Theatre Royal for those who find it hard to walk long distances.
No disabled parking in Exchange Road (behind New Theatre Royal) after 5.00pm.
There are dedicated disabled parking spaces in the Isambard Brunel Multi-storey Car Park, but you will have to pay to park.
In Guildhall Walk Car Park, PO1 2BX (behind Starbucks) there are some disabled parking bays but blue badge holders can park anywhere.
In Stanhope Road Car Park, PO1 1DU (next to old Zurich building) blue badge holders can park anywhere.
